Blind Shelter Puppy Wonders Why His Brother Was Adopted Without Him, Longing for a Loving Home
There’s a lot that makes dogs the special creatures that they are: Their capacity to shower us with unconditional love and unwavering loyalty knows no bounds, they offer unmatched entertainment, and they’re often too quick to forgive and love again, even after being let down by those they gave their whole hearts to.
It’s no wonder why it makes no sense when dogs, as precious and faultless as they are, are put through undeserving suffering by their humans. Knox — a 4-month-old blind and partially deaf Catahoula puppy who’s currently a resident at Florida-based shelter Mercy Full Project — is a perfect example of dogs who had (still has) a lot to offer but weren’t cherished as they ought to. (Watch video below)
At his young age, Knox already knows what it’s like to be neglected and unloved. Although his arrival at the shelter brought to an end the misery he endured at the hands of his former owner, he still wakes up every day with a longing for a permanent home where he’ll truly feel loved and wanted.
A Rough Start to Life
Knox and his brother were surrendered to the shelter by their previous owner. According to Mercy Full Project, this lovely furry duo were a victim of severe neglect. While under their owner’s care, Knox and his sibling spent the better part of their lives in the backyard, fending for themselves.
Life took a positive turn when they were brought to the shelter, as they no longer had to worry about their safety or next meal. Knox had high hopes that he and his brother would leave the shelter together, only for his sibling to get adopted first — and without him. As heartbreaking as this feels, Knox still believes he is worthy of a good home, just like his adopted brother.
Can You Give Knox His Happily Ever After?
Everything about Knox screams special. His heterochromatic eyes (one of his eyes is blue, the other brown) will make you fall in love with him in an instant, and his zest for life, despite being a blind and partially deaf dog, is like no other. His sweet demeanor and playful spirit can melt the coldest of hearts, and he does not allow his disability to get in the way of him living an adventurous life.
Beneath those breathtaking heterochromatic eyes is an incredibly smart, confident pup who masters basic commands pretty fast and possesses a strong eagerness to please his owner. Knox desires a loving, understanding family — preferably a household with an active lifestyle — that will accommodate him wholeheartedly and cater to his special needs as a blind and deaf dog.
Knox gets along pretty well with kids and other pets, so having a furry sibling is a wish his heart constantly makes. Another item on his wishlist? Having a fenced backyard all to himself so he can nose-explore to his heart’s content without worrying about his safety.
If you’d like to offer Knox the forever home he yearns for, please reach out to the Mercy Full Project for more details on his adoption.
